ANSWERS:

1.  Does a septic system (new or repaired) require a permit?

Yes, a septic permit is required in all cases where an existing or new septic is constructed, altered, repaired in any manner.  This includes alterations or replacement of a septic tank or pump chamber.  Please contact the Building Department for more specifics.

2.  How can I test my well water?

The Township Office is a Depot for Elgin St. Thomas Public Health for testing your well water.  We accept water samples for testing on Mondays (8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.) and Tuesdays (8:30-10:00 a.m.).  The samples are picked up on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. sharp by the Public Health Office.

You can pick up your free water sample bottle at the Township Office during regular business hours. 

 

3.  When are water installments due?

Water and sewer installments are due quarterly (January, April, July, October)

 

4.  What are my payment options for paying my water & sewer bill?

Payment Options

1. Internet or Telephone Banking

When using the internet banking method, enter your Property Tax Roll Number (this is a 19 digit number starting with 3408)  Do not enter any periods or dashes.

2. INTERAC (Debit Card)        

3. Pre-Authorized Debit Plan 

You may authorize the Township to withdraw your taxes directly out of your bank account.  To print off an application form, click on the following link: Water-Pre-Authorized Debit Form  and print off the form attach void cheque and mail or drop it off at the Township office.

4. Payment at the Office          

The Township office is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Our office is located at 87 John Street South Aylmer, Ontario.

5. Cheques/Post-Dated Cheques 

Many ratepayers find it convenient to leave post-dated cheques for each of the two installments on the interim tax bill and again for the final bill. 

6. After-hours Mail Slot

There is a mail slot located at the end of the ramp at the front of the Township office.  Please do not insert cash in this mail slot.

 

5.  Who do I contact about a municipal water or sewage issue?

6.  Are there water restrictions for water customers of Malahide Township during summer months?

Malahide does have water restrictions in the summer months beginning June 1st and ending September 15th of each calendar year.  The restrictions are as follows:

a)     For properties that have civic address numbers (911) that end with an odd number, shall be allowed to water their lawns on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday of each week.

b)     For properties that have civic address numbers (911) numbers that end with an even number, shall be allowed to water their lawns on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday of each week.
