Department Overview

Malahide Fire Services provides fire suppression, fire prevention and public education, medical response, and specialized rescue services to the residents of the Township.

Malahide Fire Services is comprised of 1 full-time Fire Chief and approximately 100 community-oriented Volunteer Firefighters operating from four Fire Stations.

The Deputy Chief, District Deputy Chief, and Captains (4) provide leadership and administrative support at each station.  Each station has one firefighter designated to coordinate station training activities and one for fire prevention and public education activities.

Volunteer Firefighters train twice monthly for approximately four hours per month.  The Department's Training Committee develops a strategic training plan for each calendar year focusing on the components of the Ontario Fire College firefighter curriculum, including:  Semi-Automated External Defibrillation, First Aid, CPR, and specialty rescue programs such as rope, water and ice, and confined space rescues, and motor vehicle extrication.
