  • Yoga for Every Body - Tuesdays, 7p.m. - 8:15p.m.  at Malahide Community Place, starting September 14, 2010

Yoga is for every age and every stage of your life!  Devote one hour in your busy day to quiet your mind, improve flexibility and strengthen your body.  Led by Bonnie Di Bernardo, these gentle classes are $13.00 for drop-in (if space is available) or $90.00 for the 8-week session.  Wear comfortable clothing and bring your yoga mat, a towel and a bottle of water.

 

  • Zumba Classes - Wednesdays, 7p.m - 8:00 p.m. at Malahide Community Place

What's Zumba? Its a fabulous combination of Latin dance steps and aerobics creating a great cardiovascular workout, and it's available right here in Springfield! Coming soon - Zumba Gold for Seniors!

  • 30th Annual Malahide #4 Lyons Fire Department Pork Barbecue - Saturday, August 14, 2010 at South Dorchester Community Hall & Malahide #4 Fire Station

The all-you-can-eat menu includes pork, salads, Chief Legg's famous baked beans, buttery corn, fresh buns, ice cream and cake.

Tickets are $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for youth 6 to 12 years.  Children younger than 6 are free!

  • Environmental Leadership Program Annual Fundraising Fish Fry -held on June 5, 2010 at Malahide Community Place

This sold-out yearly event served nearly 400 dinners in support of the East Elgin Secondary School's Environmental Leadership Program led by EESS teacher Duncan Sinclair.

  • Springfield Family Fun Day- held from 8a.m.-4p.m. on June 12, 2010 at Malahide Community Place

Family Fun Day has a long and wonderful tradition in Springfield.  This year, this family friendly day was filled with activities held on nearly every square inch of new Malahide Community Place grounds!  Starting with a scrumptious breakfast that satisfied over 365 hungry people, the program offered a Reserve Penny Sale, craft vendors, free bicycle helmet-fitting and giveaway for children and adults, Springfield Library book sale, water games hosted by the local firefighters, Vogel Joy (family entertainment), community group displays, outdoor inflatables, lots of fun contests like pie-and cookie-baking, watermelon eating, and bicycle decorating, and a performance by The Amazing Corbin, the magician.

  • Springfield Lioness Club Seniors' Luncheon - Sunday, July 18 from 1p.m. -4p.m. at Malahide Community Place

This event started nearly 20 years ago and is still going strong!  The Springfield Lioness Club wanted to give seniors who have little or no family close by a full Christmas experience - scrumptious turkery dinner, gifts and entertainment.  Changed from December to July to avoid weather issues, the Seniors' Christmas Luncheon is free of charge and available to Springfield and area seniors.
